Teen-Talk

LCL TEEN TALK MISSION STATEMENT:

LCL Teens is an outreach mentoring program that offers teens hope and a place for them to belong. It challenges them to:

  • Set goals
  • Aspire to achieve
  • Fulfill their dreams in life
  • Prepare for a successful life
  • Understand the importance of teamwork
  • Know the importance of education
  • Become better communicators
  • Increase their decision-making skills, problem solving, and their self-esteem

LCL Teen Talk Objectives:

Teach and train youth the value of their own self-worth.

Present “real life” situations to youth with positive alternatives through LCL’s Teen Talk program by performing various skits and plays to the community.

Educate youth about drug awareness to deter them from future use of illicit drugs and drug activity.

Present an abstinence program to encourage youth and young adults to wait on sexual activity until marriage and teach them to make responsible decisions about illegitimate sexual activity.

Cut down on the number of children born out of wedlock.

Focus on positive study habits to cultivate an environment conducive to academic achievement.

Assure all participants have a High School Diploma or GED to prepare them for employment.

Provide a comprehensive career/financial planning program to help these families budget their income to promote self-sufficiency.

Stimulate the minds of youth and young adults for success and give them the avenues to achieve such career-oriented goals.

LCL Teen Talk features LCL’s teens and is an outreach program that speaks to the youth and entire families concerning today’s issues. Real-life circumstances that our teens are facing on a daily basis will be illustrated through skits, singing, praise dancing, and testimonials. Since many of our youth will face the crossroad experience, we want to show them what will happen when they choose the wrong or right road.
